Guided tour reviews of the Sansevero Chapel

Reviews

I compare six guided tours available on this site, all bookable on GetYourGuide. I have read the reviews of each one, one by one, and below you will find my assessment of each: what works, what doesn’t, and who it suits. I don’t hide the lower ratings: one of the six has a perfect score but very few reviews, another has the lowest rating in the group. I tell you upfront, not at the end.

The six tours, compared

All six include entry to the Sansevero Chapel and a guide who speaks while you stand before the Veiled Christ. They differ in meeting point, languages, how long you stay together, and whether the tour ends at the Chapel or continues into the historic centre. For a broader comparison, including how they differ from the audio guide, see all tours o which is best for you.

How I read these reviews

I don’t manage any of these tours and don’t know the guides personally: I read what hundreds or thousands of people write on GetYourGuide, look for recurring patterns — a guide often mentioned by name, a common complaint, a practical detail no one else highlights — and report what I find. If a rating is high but the review base is small, I say so. If a rating is the lowest in the group, I still mention it, because 4.6 remains a good score, just less consistent than the others.

For the price overview, with no figures here but explained by structure, see how much it costs. For how booking works, see booking.

Frequently asked questions

What is the guided tour with the highest rating?

On paper, the Gothic–Baroque walk has a 5.0 rating, but with only 107 reviews: a perfect score on a still-small sample. The most-reviewed option, with 6,957 ratings, is the historic centre with the cloister of Santa Chiara, at 4.9. The details are in the review of the Gothic–Baroque walk.

Is there a tour with a low rating to avoid?

None of the six should be avoided, but the Sansevero Chapel with a local guide has the lowest rating in the group, 4.6: good, though its quality depends more than the others on the guide you get. I explain this in the dedicated review.

Are the reviews on this site the same as those on GetYourGuide?

Yes, the ratings and numbers come from real reviews left on GetYourGuide by those who have already taken the tour. I add my own analysis and comparison, but I don’t alter the numbers. See also which one suits you best.
